All youths in grades 4-12 are invited to serve as altar servers for our weekend, Holy Day, and special Feast Day Masses. In addition, altar servers are occasionally asked to participate in funeral and wedding Masses. Becoming an altar server presents an excellent opportunity to learn about the liturgical life of Good Shepherd, and to work with our priests, sacristans, and other volunteers to make our services happen each week. This is also a great leadership experience!
For more information on becoming an altar server, please contact Fr Robert.
The lectors at Good Shepherd are all volunteers who share their love and understanding of scripture with the congregation. After a training program, they are included in a rotation of assignments for reading lessons and leading prayers at weekend, Holy Day, and special Feast Day Masses. The public reading of scripture is a way to bear witness to the faith and to feel part of the life and worship of our community.

In every celebration of the Eucharist, there should be a sufficient number of ministers of Holy Communion so that it may be distributed in a reverent and orderly manner. Bishops, priests and deacons distribute Holy Communion in virtue of their office as ordinary ministers of the Body and Blood of the Lord. (1) When the size of the congregation or the incapacity of the bishop, priest, or deacon requires it, the celebrant may be assisted by other bishops, priests, or deacons. If such ordinary ministers of Holy Communion are not present, “the priest may call upon extraordinary ministers to assist him, i.e., duly instituted acolytes or even other faithful who have been deputed for this purpose. In case of necessity, the priest may also depute suitable faithful for this single occasion
