On Saturday, Jan. 20, about 30 members of Good Shepherd and the Inwood community traveled to Harlem to greet their neighbors who live on the street. They gave out 60 care packages of winter clothes, food and water, toothbrushes and toothpaste, and information on where to find meals, shelter, and services. Through the JoyJ Initiative, we received all our donations of clothing, food, and hygiene supplies. We thank Alba Fresco for organizing this event and Michele Marotta, director of JoyJ Initiative, for his generosity. Going forward, we aim to form a JPIC working group for homeless and housing advocacy, with periodic days of service as well.
